Open my eyes
To the darkened room
Sunlight leaks through the shades
I can tell by the sighs
It’s already noon
I don’t want to get up today
Open my door
And the TV downstairs
Blasts with sunny day news
Feet on the cold floor
Run a hand through my hair
And I’m struck with the sunny day blues
Open my window
To the bright blinding frost
That makes me squint my eyes closed
The piercing white snow
Leaves my grumpiness gone
And the sun seeps with warmth through my clothes
Open my mind
To this brand new day
And all of the things I can do
It’s easy to find
The right words to say
When the world says good morning to you.
