Students
All written work is to be accompanied by one of the following self-created
visuals: photograph, art, or comic strip. Podcasts or iMovies may be submitted
in lieu of visual component.
(Students might pair-up…one write, one do attachment.)
Teachers
All member district teachers submitting student writing are strongly urged
to also submit a piece of writing, bio, and visual component along with
students.
Length of writing
- Stories/Essays/Comic Strips: 1-5 pages
- Poetry: 1-2 pages
Related works
- iMovies/podcasts: 3 minute maximum
- Art, photos, etc.: Scan work to appropriate
size and send as attachment. If the file is larger than 2mb in size please
use the submission instructions at the following link. (large file submissions)
Submitting Entries
Submit release form, writing, biography, and visual via e-mail to the appropriate
grade level:
Teacher checklist
- Each teacher, as a total of all his or her students, may submit up
to three pieces of writing.
- Each student will produce/submit a short 50-75
word biography with writing.
- Teachers strongly urged to submit a piece of
writing, bio., and visual component along with students. See directions.
- Great
teachers of writing are also writers and write along with their students.
- Parental
release forms are signed and sent with submissions of writing and related
work. You must include a release form, available
here.
- Teacher will review for appropriateness,
plagiarism, and parental release form.
- Each student piece must have student’s
name, age, school, and teacher’s last name.
- Teachers are responsible
that all pieces are previewed for appropriateness and correctness (exception
early elementary inventive writing.)
ASWC will decide on final submissions. Keep posted to see who is published
